Our friends at Moz know what’s up when it comes to getting your website noticed. One of Moz’s helpful tools, which addresses an often-overlooked part of online marketing and SEO, is their Moz Local software. We chatted with BigWing’s in-house Local SEO expert, Gina Jennings, to figure out what’s so great about Moz Local and why we recommend it to our clients.
What is Moz Local?
Moz Local is a tool that automatically distributes your company’s listing across various directories and publishers online. A listing consists of your business name, address, and phone number at a minimum, with your website, office hours, and a description being secondary components.
Moz Local provides your listing to the 4 major data providers: Factual, Acxiom, Neustar Localeze, and Infogroup and other partner sites. Those four listing services, in turn, supply your company’s listing to a collection of more than 300 subsidiary listing sites, like City Pages, Super Pages, Yellow Pages, and Manta.
“Your listing becomes part of this local ‘ecosystem,’ which helps determine how your listings will rank in search engines locally,” Gina says. “Whether you have one location or one thousand locations, Moz Local can help.”
So why do I really need Moz Local?
- It does the hard work for you.
- Its results are highly important to your brick-and-mortar business.
- It’s relatively inexpensive.
Moz Local is an intelligent tool. It can detect duplicates within the 4 data aggregators and its other partner sites. You have the ability to decide which duplicates need to be removed from these sites. This helps clean up duplicate and inconsistent listings that might negatively affect your ranking. It improves your business visibility on the web, in search engines, on smartphones, and ideally, in Google’s local pack.
Without this kind of local software, you’d have to do over 300 listing submissions manually in order to get the same kind of results.
No thanks. Wouldn’t you rather spend your time doing … your job?
Moz Local can take up to six weeks to get the data aggregated appropriately, but Gina says it’s well worth the wait to have your business name out there, listed correctly, in all the right places. BigWing offers Moz Local as part of our suite of Local SEO products that includes Google My Business, Bing, Yelp, and Angie’s List (for applicable clients).
What’s the advantage of hiring a local SEO expert?
“You don’t have to spend time dealing with or figuring out the idiosyncrasies of all of the various local listing sites,” Gina says. Having a local SEO expert on your team lets you focus on other aspects of marketing, making products, and taking care of clients – the good stuff. Local SEO is vital to brick-and-mortar businesses because when potential customers can find you on search engine results pages and on the map, they’re more likely to drive to your location and walk through your door.
