At BigWing, we live and work by our seven core SPICCEE values. We strive every day to incorporate stewardship, passion, integrity, creativity, and a constant pursuit of education and excellence into the work we do for our clients. This month, however, we turned our focus to one value in particular—community.
To celebrate our joy for giving back to the community and those in need, we laced up our tennis shoes, grabbed our hammers, and paired up with the folks at Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity (COHFH) to help one family on their way to homeownership.
“The BigWing team was honored to work with Habitat for Humanity,” BigWing’s Vice President and General Manager, Marilyn Hoeffner said. “It’s a great charity that helps to improve the lives of Oklahomans by providing them a tremendous jump-start in owning a home.”
COHFH seeks to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope for those in need of shelter and affordable housing. Through faith, they work to transform lives and promote positive change within the communities they help to flourish.
Our staff had the privilege of spending the day building a new home for Ndibmun, Agnes, and their two children. Both Ndibmun and Agnes work as caretakers at a local assisted living center but were present at the build site all day, working alongside the BigWing team to frame the walls and attach the exterior siding. Unfortunately, the infamous Oklahoma winds prevented us from being able to attach the frame for the roof while we were there.
“It was really meaningful to work with the homeowners who would be moving into the house we were building,” BigWing Content Marketing Specialist, Chloe Cumbie said. “It was amazing to see the final product that we had all completed together as a team!”
By the end of the day, the empty concrete slab that we started with had transformed into a house that was ready for roofing. “It was a great team building opportunity for our staff. We had so much fun getting the house framing completed and hope it provided a great start for the rest of the project,” Marilyn said.
